Self-Care During your Moontime

Across cultures and all throughout history, women have employed special techniques to care for themselves while bleeding. This includes both the moontime (monthly menstruation) and the early postpartum / post-birth time when we bleed for several weeks.

We live in a world that denies the reality of our bodies, encouraging us to “do it all”, and not let our moontime “slow us down”. This sounds empowering at first, until you realize that “pushing through it” when we are bleeding is detrimental to our long-term health. Indigenous cultures still know this, and all of our ancestors knew this.

The true empowerment comes from embracing our cycles, in all their fluctuations, and knowing how to support our uniquely feminine bodies.
